The precipitated barium sulfate is white amorphous powEPTwith relative density of 4.50 (fifteen ordmC) and melting stage of 1580 ordmC. Thanks to its substantial refractive index (one.63-1.65), it shows white color and has particular covering EPT. It is almost insoluble in drinking water, ethanol and acid, but soluble in sizzling sulfuric acid. It is effortless to make mixed crystal with potassium permanganate, calcium carbonate or steel nitrate. It can be decreased to barium sulfide with carbon at substantial temperature.
